Safety Day

Safety Day is an annual event at the University of Alberta which fosters a university-wide conversation on safety. The one-day event in May is facilitated by leaders across the institution and highlights the importance of safety within each respective work environment.

The 2025 Safety Day featured:

• a virtual keynote and Q&A about the importance of a safety culture and how we all play a part.
• an informal drop-in event to meet colleagues from Health Safety and Environment (HSE), learn about the U of A’s safety initiatives and ask questions.
• locations across campus for employees to meet with safety experts and learn more about how to ensure safety in their workplaces.
• a safety self-assessment tool to support supervisors and principal investigators in conducting safety assessments of their environments.
• an interactive team-based game to identify workplace hazards.
