2025 Safety Day
Moving Safety Forward!
The University of Alberta will host its second annual Safety Day on May 7. Safety Day provides employees across the institution the opportunity to participate in a university-wide conversation on safety. This one-day event will be facilitated by leaders and will contextualize the importance of safety within each respective work environment.
Get involved
Live Virtual Keynote and Q&A
Tune in at 1:30 p.m. to hear from Dr. Tracy Raivio, Vice-Provost and Dean Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS), about the importance of a safety culture, how safety is a key priority and how we all play a part.
Safety Self-Assessment
Supervisors and principal investigators are encouraged to schedule 45 minutes with their direct reports sometime between May 7-21 to conduct a guided safety self-assessment. This will help ensure hazards are identified and assess the current state of the team's safety culture. HSE is providing supervisors a tool (open May 1) to guide teams through the assessment process.
Hidden Hazards Game
Join your research group or coworkers to team up and identify Hidden Hazards! Choose from five photos and identify up to five hazards per image. Each identified hazard earns a point, and three winning groups will enjoy a catered coffee and treats event, courtesy of HSE!
