Mental + Emotional Well-being
Mental health affects how we think, feel and act and ultimately plays a large role in our ability to manage stress, relationships, attitudes and choices. One in five Albertans will develop a mental illness in their lifetime. It could be your spouse, partner or child. It could be you, a parent, a sibling, a family member, a friend or a colleague.
Mental illness touches all segments of our community and as such will directly or indirectly impact you. Therefore, being able to recognize the signs of symptoms of mental illness and knowing how and where to access support and resources is essential.
The university recognizes the importance of supporting the mental health of faculty and staff. As such, we have committed, through provision of an Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), ongoing mental health services. Human Resource Services training, supports and services aim to provide, in conjunction with the EFAP, tools and resources to improve mental health, resiliency and skills necessary to support one another.
