Celebration of Service
The University of Alberta believes our staff members are one of our most valuable assets. Our commitment to excellence is realized through contributions of loyal individuals whose long service plays an invaluable role in the university's growth, development and successes. The university is committed to acknowledging such dedication towards advancing teaching, learning and community service.
Eligibility
Those eligible for recognition include all University of Alberta faculty and staff members who have service reflecting 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years of service within the calendar year at 5 year increments.
Presentation
At Celebration of Service, a formal event and reception held each fall, we publicly recognize individuals that have served for 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years. Individuals names are also published on the university's website. Beginning in 2018, names will no longer be published in the Edmonton Journal.
Award Process
Recipients invited to the celebration will receive information on the selection of gifts available for their milestone. Recipients will receive the ordering information via email prior to the ceremony. A deadline for ordering will be articulated and following that deadline, recipients can expect a wait period of approximately 6 weeks (excluding holiday closures). Once the gifts arrive, recipients will be contacted and asked to collect their gift.
