I’m looking to upgrade a classroom or design a new one. Where should I start?
IST will get you started with a classroom consultation including discussions on design, cost estimates, and training, if necessary. With consultations, we’ll help you allocate your money sustainability, and ensure you have the proper technology to suit your teaching style and needs. We can also assist with lifecycle and evergreen planning as well as the disposal of e-waste.

What services do you offer?
Our goal is to provide you with the best tools available in order for you to teach effectively and efficiently. IST provides a wide range of services to campus which include room enhancements, hardware installs, repairs, ongoing maintenance, and one-on-one needs assessments to develop technology solutions for your specific needs.
What is a needs consultation?
During a needs consultation, our team of experts will meet with you, and together, determine what tools you need to effectively do your job. We’ll discuss the technical requirements for the classroom, lab, or meeting room and work with you to stay within budget.
Do you provide custom teaching solutions?
We offer various custom teaching solutions to meet your needs. One example is a collaboration room which allows for multi-device presentations to be shown through one display/projector. This setup allows you to connect various laptops/desktops to collaborate with group members, give presentations, or teach from various sources.
We also provide dual screen projection allowing you to present on one screen and collaboratively work together live, on an adjacent screen.
What kind of technology is available for labs, classrooms and meeting rooms?
Most labs and classrooms are equipped with an array of projectors, computers, monitors, input panels, AMX Touchpanels, DVD/BluRay/VCR, sound systems and microphones. For specific details on what is in our centrally booked labs, view our lab details page.
What is the process for supplying hardware to a classroom, lab or meeting room?
There are five basic steps to achieving your classroom technology goals:
- Concept - We gather the requirements depending on what you’d like to achieve in the room.
- Procurement - Our team will source and purchase the necessary supplies and equipment.
- Installation - Our team of experts assemble and set up all the supplies and equipment necessary to build a room catered to you.
- Testing - We examine the installations to verify it functions properly and running as intended.
- Education - Our team assumed the role of educators to train instructors and department members on how the classroom, lab, or meeting room works, as well as how to use the technology effectively.
What if the lab/classroom does not have the operating system I need?
We can provide support for anyone using a space that doesn’t currently have the operating system you need installed. Visit the Staff Service Centre to get started and be sure to know what operating system you are most comfortable with, as well as any other software or hardware requirements you have.
