Several supporting documents are required to complete your application. Before beginning your application, we recommend gathering all required supporting documents.

Supporting documents may include the following:
Application Requirements for Academic Documents
Academic documents such as:
- Transcripts
- Degree certificates
- Marksheets
English Language Proficiency Scores
English Language Proficiency scores such as:
- CAEL
- Duolingo
- IELTS
- Pearson TOEFL
Additional Departmental Requirements
Additional departmental requirements, such as:
- CV, statement of intent and writing samples
- Letter of confirmation from prospective supervisor(s) (thesis-based programs);
- GRE, GMAT or other test scores
- Reference letters
Preparing Your Supporting Documents
Before beginning your application, scan and save all supporting documents (except reference letters) as PDF files. You will then upload those files directly to the university’s online application portal.
You must upload your documents on or before the application submission deadline for the program to which you are applying.
All documents submitted to the University of Alberta become the property of the university, and will not be released or copied except for purposes internal to the U of A. Documents will not be returned to the applicant.
