Non-Degree Graduate Student Registration

The Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) at the University of Alberta offers opportunities for students to take graduate-level courses for credit without proceeding toward a graduate degree. Students need to be approved for a course in this format and if approved, will register as non-degree graduate students.

Non-degree graduate students must register with the department offering the course(s) using the Non-Degree Graduate Student Registration Form found in the GPS forms cabinet. No additional documentation is required other than the form. Registration is valid for a maximum of one year from your start date. A new Non-Degree Graduate Student Registration Form is required for anything beyond one year.

Requirements

For more information, see the Graduate Program Manual Section 5.12 Categories of Graduate Students for definitions. You can also refer to Section 6.6 Non-degree + Visiting Students for information regarding re-application after one year of completed studies.

Note: Not all departments offer non-degree graduate student programs.
