Co-training in Germany
Application for German Research Exchange Visit
As part of the ATUMS training program, students will visit Germany at least once to carry out research in a partner laboratory for 3-6 months, with travel and accommodation expenses paid for by ATUMS. In the application for funding from NSERC, it was determined that each student would write a proposal, describing their proposed research in Germany.
German Research Exchange Visit Application Form
Contact Leah Veinot for this application form.
The application will be used to describe:
- in which partner lab the work will be carried out;
- the anticipated research skills that will be obtained during the research experience;
- other plan for experiences that will enrich the student (e.g. industrial visits, language training, professional development)
- estimated costs - details of budget outlined in the application form
Application deadlines
Ongoing throughout the year, typically 10-12 weeks prior to your anticipated German Research Exchange Visit.
Completed proposals must be submitted to Leah Veinot, ATUMS Program Coordinator, 4-253 CCIS Building.
Applications will be reviewed by the ATUMS Leadership Team Committee. If approved, the student will receive a travel bursary to help defer the costs of travel and accommodation expenses during their research stay. The amount of the bursary is dependent upon the class of German Research Exchange Visit being applied for.
Guidelines and Expectations of Trainees
Trainees enrolled in ATUMS will have exciting opportunities and experiences available to them. With these benefits come expectations that need to be met, for the student's training and the program itself to be successful. If the trainee is accepted into the program then the obligations included in the application form need to be fulfilled. If these are not met, then the student's stipend and or enrolment in ATUMS may be withdrawn at the discretion of the ATUMS Leadership Team.
Final Report
Please note that a final report, summarizing the research experience in relation to the objectives outlined in this application, will need to be submitted to the ATUMS Leadership Team no later than one month following the return from Germany.
Public Presentation
Please note that as well as submitting a final report to the ATUMS Leadership Team, a public presentation must be given to the ATUMS community either at an ATUMS seminar or at an annual general meeting, which ever occurs first within one month of returning from Germany.
