The Centennial Centre for Interdisciplinary Science

The first of its kind in Canada - and one of just a handful around the world - CCIS represents an interdisciplinary approach to scientific discovery that facilitates a cross-fertilization of ideas and techniques as never before. Established scientists interact with a new generation of world-class researchers and outstanding students, sharing sophisticated tools and state-of-the-art facilities.

LEED-certified

The signature LEED-certified building sets the stage for unique collaborations by five research groups within the Faculty, across campus, and around the world. These collaborations involve the meeting of minds, unique technologies, and new professional training programs and degrees. New lecture halls and teaching labs provide an unprecedented learning experience for students campus-wide.

From innovative teaching to cutting edge research, the benefits will be huge - for our researchers, for our community and above all, for our students.

Art meets Science

A 40,000 sq. ft floor mosaic flows throughout the entire CCIS facility. Artist Scott Parsons overlapped and wove together imagery to visually bring together the multiple fields of science being studied by the research groups in CCIS. The building also features a number of beautiful points of interest exhibiting some of the incredible science and research taking place in the Faculty of Science.
