Have you met Franca Brodett?
Tarwinder Rai - 25 March 2022
Meet the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ new assistant dean of development, Franca Brodett.
Franca has been a part of the University of Alberta’s development team for over five years. She’s worked in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (specifically with the School of Dentistry), the Alberta School of Business, and with the Annual Giving team.
Franca, ’12 BCom, is a proud alumna and is currently working toward her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification. She is a passionate fundraising professional with extensive experience in major gift fundraising, strategic donor relations and campaign development.
Franca is also very active as a volunteer, both on campus and giving back across the community. Some of her volunteer highlights include: Campus Food Bank board director; Alumni Mentorship Program; Business Alumni Association board of directors and the Alberta Not-For-Profit Association.
She is also an avid golfer, abstract artist and she loves her dog, Gary. Take a few minutes to get to know Franca!
What attracted you to fundraising?
I am a proud Alberta School of Business alumni and love that my role within fundraising has come back full circle. I have a strong passion to make a difference in the world, and for me, the best way to do this is through supporting philanthropy that advances the faculty.
What inspires you the most about donors?
Our donors come from all backgrounds and communities, but they share a dedication to make a difference in higher education and research. They create a ripple effect of positive change in our society and throughout the world — and often their stories start with memorable U of A experiences!
What does leading with purpose mean to you?
Leading with purpose means building meaningful relationships and community within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. I lead the faculty’s development portfolio to inspire students, alumni, community and all stakeholders to reach their philanthropic goals.
If someone is interested in supporting Pharmacy, where should they start?
