What interests you most about this area of study?
I was drawn to this field because of the tremendous impact pharmaceutical research has on so many people. I was particularly interested in advancing drug delivery technologies to create more effective formulations. The prospect of designing effective and affordable pharmaceuticals for chronic conditions to improve patient quality of life and health outcomes made me eager to study in this field.
What achievement, accomplishment or moment are you most proud of from your time in the program?
The highlight of my time in the program was representing the Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences at a symposium in Japan. Presenting my research internationally was a unique experience and having the opportunity to immerse myself in Japanese culture and pharmaceutical research was very rewarding.
Did you receive any financial awards or supports throughout your studies?
Financial support was provided by the NSERC CGS-M scholarship, the Walter H Johns Graduate Fellowship, the Mitacs Accelerate internship program, and the Shoppers Drug Mart Graduate Scholarship in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. I’m very grateful for the support these funding sources provided to allow me to successfully complete my research and graduate degree.
What comes next for you in your career and/or academic journey as one of tomorrow’s change makers, working toward improving health and well-being for all?
I have recently started medical school at the U of A and my experience in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has given me a solid foundation for my future in healthcare.
