Verifications for Undergraduate Medical Education Training
Our office is responsible for maintaining records for all current and former UGME students in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta. We provide confidential verifications of ongoing and/or completed training directly to various institutions and credentialing and licensing bodies.
Current MD Students
Verification services for current MD students include the following:
- Certification of Identification and Authorization Form for USMLE (NBME)
- please authorize, sign, date and add your photo and email a copy to ume09@ualberta.ca for certification
- we will sign and email the completed form to USMLE with a copy to you
- MCCQE Part 1
- students must have their identity document(s) certified prior to submitting their MCCQE Part I application, as they will be required to upload the certified document during the application process
- acceptable identity documents must be signed by the authorized signatories in the UGME office in person
- no electronic documents are accepted

- Letter of good standing
- students can obtain one on Cally
- if you need a letter of good standing with specific wording for banks and/or scholarship applications you can request one by emailing your request to ume25@ualberta.ca
MD Program Graduates
Verification services for MD program graduates include verifications of MD certification with university seal.
Written requests and signed releases can be sent via email to ume09@ualberta.ca or via mail to the following address:

Transcripts + Degree Certificates
The UGME office does not provide copies of transcripts or degree certificates. If you require either of these documents you will need to contact the University of Alberta Registrar’s Office.
PGME Trainees
The UGME does not provide verifications for PGME trainees. For Verifications of residency (CFPC and RCPSC) and Verifications of fellowships (AFC and non-AFC) please contact the PGME office at pgemail@ualberta.ca.
Notaries + Commissioners
UGME does not provide or offer Notary Public services.
UGME does provide Commissioner of Oaths services. Please contact ume09@ualberta.ca if you require Commissioner of Oaths services.
