Up Your Game with these Digital Study Tips
The end of term is almost upon us! All that stands between you and the sweet release of summer are a few pesky, tedious, yet totally-anxiety-inducing final exams. Don’t panic just yet — these digital study tips will help set you up for success.
1. Set your goals in calendar
First off, set some firm study goals by blocking time in your calendar. Scheduling time to make study notes, meet with your study group, or review past lectures will help you hold yourself accountable in the weeks leading up to your final exams.
Goals in Google Calendar for mobile will automatically find time in your busy schedule to study. If an important clash comes up, no worries: Google Calendar will suggest a better time for you.
2. Set your phone to Do Not Disturb
If your phone keeps lighting up with a string of texts and phone calls, it’s a lot harder to stay focused and reach your study goals. Be proactive by setting your phone to Do Not Disturb until your study session is over.
Bonus: if you have a Pixel 3, then just turning your phone over to sit face-down will automatically set it to Do Not Disturb.
3. Check your digital wellbeing
We’re all guilty of procrastinating on our phones when we should be doing work. Try managing that bad habit with the Digital Wellbeing dashboard on Android or Screen Time on iOS. These apps will tell you how much time you’re spending on social media, entertainment, and productivity.
Take it a step further by scheduling downtime and app limits to cut down on your scrolling. Both Android and iOS devices have tons of options for boosting your productivity.
4.) Use digital tools to accomplish more
Technology can be distracting. But if we’re using it right, it should help us get more done, not less. Take advantage of your digital toolkit to check more tasks off your to-do list.
Gmail’s smart compose and smart reply saves you time by suggesting words and phrases as you write. Google Slides has a flash cards template ready for you to customize. And Google’s Explore feature saves you time by creating amazing presentations, spreadsheets, and documents so you can get on with what’s most important in your life.
5.) Practice mindfulness and take a break
In all the craze of studying, you also need some downtime. Try to manage your stress with apps like Headspace, Calm, and tons more.
To kickstart your wellbeing journey, search for “mindfulness” in Google Play or the iOS App Store. You can also ask Siri or your Google Assistant, “How do I meditate?” to get a bunch of app and website recommendations.
