The course is focused on international business and more specifically business in China.  There will be a two-day course content focused pre-departure session.  During the Shanghai portion of the course, students will be in the classroom working and learning alongside our Shanghai-based students.  After the class session, the course will be supplemented with ~3 days of company visits in Shanghai and area.  Specific companies will be confirmed closer to the course.

Course Information

This 3 credit course is comprised of 3 components; a in-Canada classroom component, a in Shanghai classroom component alongside our Shanghai-based MBA students, and a company visits in Shanghai.

Class Dates

The course portion in Shanghai will run from July 4th to 10th.  Students will be in class with our Shanghai cohort on July 5th and 6th.  The remaining days will involve company and cultural visits. The pre-departure class dates are yet to be confirmed.

Shanghai Component

This course is a unique opportunity to study alongside both your fellow MBA students and students in our Shanghai-based MBA program.  Our Shanghai MBA cohort is composed of experienced entrepreneurs and senior business managers in China.

The course is designed to have Canadian students working in groups alongside our Shanghai-based students for part of the class.  This is a great opportunity to get to know and work alongside your international peers and offers a more immersive experience than a typical study tour.

After the class sessions with our Shanghai MBA cohort, the remaining days will involve company and business site visits around Shanghai.  Specific companies will be confirmed closer to the trip.

Tuition, Travel and Accommodation

Accommodation

As part of the course, the MBA program will be providing accommodation from July 4th to July 10th (check-out on July 10th).  Further details on accommodation will be provided at a later date.

This is a standard 3-credit course within the MBA program and students will be assessed course tuition at their standard rate.  While accommodation in Shanghai during class dates will be covered (check-in on July 4th, check-out on July 10th), students would be responsible for all other costs associated with this course.  That would include arranging your own travel to Shanghai.

Trip Extension

Students can travel ahead of the course dates or stay well past the course dates.  All transportation arrangements are made by the students themselves, the only requirement is that students physically be in Shanghai from July 4th to July 10th.

China Entry Requirements

Entry requirements will vary depending on your nationality.  All students are responsible for ensuring they are able to enter China for the course.  The closest Chinese Visa Application Centre is in Calgary.  You can review the specific visa application requirements online.
