Dino Lab Virtual Tour

Welcome to the University of Alberta’s Dinosaur Preparation Laboratory: Dino Lab.

We are celebrating more than 100 years since dinosaur fossils were first prepared on campus in 1920 by George F. Sternberg who had a small workshop in the basement of North Lab (replaced by Cameron Library).

Now located in the basement of the Biological Sciences Building, our spaces were originally designed for Campus Radio & Television studios in the 1970's, then modified as a machine shop that supported various aspects of the Department of Physics. Since 2007 we have been preparing dinosaurs and other fossils — gigantic and small — from Alberta, across Canada and around the world.
