Outside of Education building - summer surrounded by green trees

When you join UAlberta's Faculty of Education, you are joining one of the world's top faculties of education, ranked third in Canada by the 2025 Maclean's University Rankings and number 80 out of more than 800 education faculties in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Established in 1942, we are proud to claim the title of Canada's First Faculty of Education. Today we are one of the largest education faculties in the country, with four teaching areas and one school: Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Educational Policy Studies, Educational Psychology, and the School of Library and Information Studies.

A degree from our faculty means your credentials will be recognized worldwide.

Our Programs

As one of the largest faculties of education in the country, we are able to offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs to fit the needs of our prospective students and the demands of various educational contexts. Central to our Faculty’s guiding principles is the Cree concept of mâmawohkamâtowin — a way of being that collectively orients our work in ethical, caring, cooperative and compassionate ways to serve our students.
