On- and Off-Campus Travel
On-Campus Resources
Safewalk
Safewalk provides a safe and reliable alternative to walking home alone at night. This service runs September through April and is available to staff, students and visitors of the University community to and from any destination within SAFEWALK'S boundaries.
Call 780-4-WALKME (780-492-5563) to request this service. When Safewalk is closed, please contact 780-492-5050.
Bike Transportation Information
Edmonton Police Service (EPS) collects 25-30 bicycles each week and only 24 percent of these are returned to owners.
To change this statistic, the EPS has partnered with Bike Index in an attempt to deter bike theft from the moment you purchase your bicycle. If your bike is registered, it's easy to get back to you!
Here is a guide to biking on the University campus which offers its riders a variety of resources to encourage cycling.
Students Union have a Bike Library which the U of A community can rent bikes and learn how to fix their own bike.
Check out Cycling in Edmonton which has a wealth of information for biking around our great city.
Off-Campus Activity
It may be necessary for you to travel outside of Edmonton for work-related activities and there are steps to take beyond making travel arrangements. You, your department and the University of Alberta share the responsibility for managing risks associated with any off-campus activity.
