While Abroad + Upon Return
While Abroad
Ensure that you maintain contact with both the Exchange Coordinator and your Program Office throughout your exchange. While you may use a different email address during your time abroad, it's essential to regularly check your UAlberta account for important information, updates or requests from the Alberta School of Business.
If you need to make changes to your course selections after your arrival at the host institution, contact both the Exchange Office and your Academic Advisor to facilitate the necessary credit reassessment. Be sure to include course syllabi, reading materials and contact hours.
Additionally, we recommend retaining all course syllabi and academic records in your personal files for at least two years after completing the exchange. This practice can be beneficial for future reference or any potential credit transfer requirements.
Upon Return
Submitting a copy of your transcript
After completing your exchange, please ensure that an official transcript issued by your host institution is sent directly to the ASB International Exchange Office. This is essential for the approval and granting of transfer credits. Although the courses you took during your exchange were pre-approved, the credits will not be awarded until official transcripts are received. We also recommend requesting an additional copy for your personal records.
Transcripts sent via postal mail should be directed to:
International Programs Office
3-21B Alberta School of Business
University of Alberta
Edmonton, AB, Canada T6G 2R6
It's important to note that some institutions issue electronic transcripts exclusively. In such cases, please ensure that your host institution sends a copy to Mic McCollum, ASB Exchange Coordinator at mic.mccollum@ualberta.ca or business.international@ualberta.ca. For MBA students, this should be directed to FGSR at gradpgm3@ualberta.ca.
Note: The RO/FGSR will only accept electronic transcripts if they are received directly from the partner institution and not via the participating student. If the transcript is sent to you or made available for download through your online account, the University of Alberta will reject it.
Share your experience with current students
Upon return from your exchange, you will have the opportunity to participate in various ways to promote the Alberta School of Business exchange programs and assist in events for both incoming and outgoing exchange students. We encourage you to consider getting involved in these activities.
Complete the Returning Business Exchange Survey
Please take a short online Returning Business Exchange Survey to provide more feedback about your exchange destination and general impressions.
Submit your Exchange Program Report
Exchange participants must submit a post-exchange summary, which serves as a valuable resource for prospective and nominated exchange students. These reports cover various aspects of the exchange program, including accommodation, budget, transportation, courses and more. Please see the detailed report guidelines for more information
