Eligibility
Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Business Administration students can participate on an exchange program if they meet the following criteria:
- BCom & MBA students must have completed at least one year of studies at the Alberta School of Business.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required over the previous two semesters.
- BCom & MBA students must be registered as full-time students and have at least *3 credits remaining before finishing a degree.
- Part-Time MBA students are eligible to participate on an exchange.
- BCom students in the Co-op program are eligible but must work out timing and coordination with the Co-op office to ensure obligations can be met for both programs.
Language Requirements
Students who are fluent in a second language may choose to register for courses in that language assuming they are proficient enough to follow academic content. You may be required to partake in an assessment or exam confirming proficiency at the host institution.
In destinations where English is not the primary language, students are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the local language before their departure, as having knowledge of the local language can enhance their overall experience.
Multiple Exchange Programs
You can participate in multiple exchange programs during your degree. Students interested in doing so will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as performance, credit availability, academic standing and motivation.
As a general policy we will not send a student on exchange to his/her own home country without detailed and compelling reasons for doing so. One of the purposes of an exchange program is to immerse students in new cultures, languages and practices to help further broaden their perspective and understanding of global issues. Having a student participate on an exchange to the country they are originally from and already familiar with largely defeats those purposes. Some of our exchange partners do not allow nomination of domestic students for exchange anyway.
