Academic Standing and Academic Integrity

Academic Integrity

Honesty. Trust. Fairness. Respect. Responsibility

Did you know that it is your responsibility to be familiar with, and adhere to, the terms of the University of Alberta’s Code of Student Behaviour?

Do you understand what is allowed and what is not?

Academic Standing

Academic standing is used to determine the eligibility of students to continue or graduate from their programs.  Each Spring our office completes a review of your undergraduate academic performance to determine if you meet the criteria to continue in your specific program.

The University calendar is your information source for all continuation and graduation requirements, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the requirements of your program.

When searching the calendar ensure you are reading the requirements for your specific degree. (You can check your Bear Tracks account to see your current program):

Pre-Fall 2024 Degrees Fall 2024 onward
BSc General
BSc Specialization BSc Major (new 2024 curriculum)
BSc Honors BSc Honors (new 2024 curriculum)
BSc /BEd Combined Degrees BSc /BEd Combined Degrees (No change to degree requirements)

Academic standing is based on your Fall/Winter GPA and is assessed at the end of each academic year.  Decisions are released early June and a letter will be posted to your Bear Tracks account.

Students who meet the minimum requirements for their program will be permitted to continue.

Students who fail to attain the standard necessary for continuation in their degree program may be required to withdraw from that program or put on academic warning. (Depending on the program and student’s GPA)
