For efficiency and economy, we have moved to a Campus Alberta model for accreditation. For Mainpro+ certification, please contact the Alberta Chapter of the CFPC through their website.
The Physician Learning Program (PLP) is one of several programs administered in the Office of Lifelong Learning. The PLP is funded through a grant from the Government of Alberta Ministry of Health. PLP creates actionable clinical information by engaging with physicians, teams, partners and patients to co-create sustainable solutions to advance practice. There are also opportunities for physicians to participate in various aspects of projects, including co-creations and data collection, based on the needs of the project. PLP develops and delivers a range of free learning events topics physicians have identified are priorities. These physician engagement events may take the form of quality improvement workshops, flipped classrooms, or didactic webinars. Participants may attend live events or view the material asynchronously.
Physicians who participate in learning events and/or clinical improvement projects are able to receive credits through their respective college, and can use MyLifeLongLearningPlan for guidance through quality improvement, standards of practice, and personal development cycles, for credits and in fulfilment of regulatory requirements.
Lifelong Learning, on the other hand, refers to continuing professional development across the educational continuum-undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education-to acquire, maintain and enhance professional activities and competence through ongoing learning.
Every month, we send an e-Newsletter that contains information about upcoming events, medical education news, and information relevant to practicing medicine in Alberta.
