Licensed Content

[Updated: 25 Feb 2025]

Any time you are required to log in to access content on a website, the terms of use for the subscription define your responsibilities. These terms of use are a way in which rights holders pre-authorize certain permitted uses for all the content covered by that subscription or licence. Before reproducing and sharing licensed content, be sure to review the terms and conditions.

The University of Alberta Library licenses a broad range of content for use by members of the University of Alberta community. After searching for content, consult the "Conditions of Use" to confirm what uses are covered by the University's licence for that specific content. Due to the variability in licence terms, it is best practice to provide other CCID holders with a persistent (static) hyperlink to the original source instead of copying and sharing the work. For instructions on how to create a persistent link, see Accessing Library Online Resources.
