Finance

Finance is a broad area of study, and our program provides you with a solid foundation for a variety of business careers.

Is a Finance major right for you?

If your interest lies in banking, investments and portfolio management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, international finance, securities trading, or financial markets, this could be the major for you.

Courses are taught by faculty who are highly respected in the profession, some whose careers have involved extensive time in the industry (i-banking and fixed income securities). Coursework is a balance of theory and case studies, complemented by empirical studies from the top finance area journals.

Curriculum that sets you up for professional practice

The Alberta School of Business is one of a select group of global institutions with Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) verified curriculum containing at least 70% of the CFA Level 1 curriculum. This means that our program is closely tied to professional practice and is well suited to prepare you for the CFA exam.

You'll also have the opportunity to apply for PRIME, a program where students manage a real portfolio fund . 8-10 students are admitted to the PRIME program every year, and they are highly sought after upon graduation by some of the top employers in the province.
