Faculty Excellence

Congratulations to Erin Marshall for receiving the 2020 CPAEF Teaching Award. Marshall will receive a letter and a cheque and be recognized at the CPA Education Conference in May.

Michael Lounsbury, professor of strategy, entrepreneurship and management, and Lukas Roth, associate professor of finance, were recognized for their 2020 achievements at the University of Alberta’s Celebrate! Teaching.Learning.Research event. Lounsbury was recognized for receiving the J. Gordin Kaplan Award for Excellence in Research, the university’s most prestigious research award which honours faculty members for their research contribution and impact nationally and internationally. Roth was awarded the McCalla Professorship, which recognizes faculty members for their outstanding contributions to the university community and their commitment to integrate research, teaching and learning throughout their careers. Congratulations to you both. 

Student Success

Congratulations to the following students on their achievements at case competitions and challenges this month:

Felisa Pador and Delilah Dias are the World’s Challenge Challenge winners, a competition that invites student teams to propose an innovative solution to a major global issue.

Business student Owen Bonner, along with U of A students Danielle Roy and Lucia Sanchesviesca, received second place in the World’s Challenge Challenge with their sustainable takeout initiative that is starting to draw some attention from local restaurants.

Kareem Hamdon, Mattea Mowbrey, Stephanie Anielski and Calvin Robert won first place at this year’s CPA Alberta Business Challenge.

Colton Hogg, Kseniya Kataeva, Yegor Muzechka and Joyce Tan competed at the KPU National Case Competition.

Kathy Pham, Shyam Srinivasan, Felisa Pador and Sadhna Mathrani won first place at the John Molson Undergraduate Case Composition hosted by Concordia University in Montreal.

Martina Elegino successfully finished in the top 10 per cent at Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec’s Canadian Marketing League case competition and earned a spot as “best marketers in the making” during the playoff rounds.

My Nguyen won a 2020 JLL Women in Real Estate Award! This award celebrates female students in commercial real estate who are pursuing a career in the industry.

Alumna Isha Godara was selected as a delegate to represent St. Albert at the prestigious Daughters of the Vote conference in which 338 delegates are selected from the country to represent every federal riding in Canada.
