I-like many of you- was saddened to learn the news from the University of Alberta Library that the Winspear Business Library will be permanently closed, effective May 1, 2020. Given the realities posed by the recent budget reductions on campus, this was no doubt a difficult decision and one that was not made lightly.
Chief Librarian Dale Askey has written an informative blog post explaining the closure and has reassured us that Business students and staff will continue to have the same resources and services available to them, including the expertise from Business librarians, Janet Williamson and Patti Sherbaniuk. I encourage you to read the blog post.
Over the summer, the business collection will be moved elsewhere on campus to a yet undetermined location; however, due to the situation with COVID-19, a move-out schedule has not yet been finalized. As well, no decision has been made about the future use of the space, but it will remain with the Alberta School of Business and repurposed for our use. We are exploring various options for the space and will ensure that it remains focused on student-learning.
If you have further questions, please visit the University of Alberta Library website or contact library@ualberta.ca.
Sincerely,
