ACADEMIC RESOURCES
Academic Success Centre
The Academic Success Centre provides professional academic support to students. They help students in all programs, and at all levels of achievement and study. Specifically, they offer:
- Appointments with a Learning Specialist to address specific academic needs
- Workshops for Students focused on specific academic skills like study strategies, effective writing, note-taking, last-minute exam strategies, etc.
- Writing Services to help students with their written assignments. Their Peer Tutors can help you get ahead of assignment deadlines, brainstorm ideas, or get feedback on a draft paper.
Academic Accommodations
The University of Alberta provides accommodations to eligible students who encounter medical or non-medical restrictions to their ability to perform the activities necessary to pursue studies at a post-secondary level. Medical restrictions include a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication, or sensory impairment, or a functional limitation that restricts the ability of an individual. Decima Robinson Centre (Math & Stats)
Mathematics and Statistics courses at the U of A can be extremely challenging for some students. The Decima Robinson Centre offers:
- Drop-in Help for all 100- and 200-level MATH or STAT courses
- Free Exam Study Sessions
- A Precalculus Program for students taking MATH 134, 144 or 154
- Free Weekly Review Seminars for STAT 151

PERSONAL SUPPORT
Life events and experiences outside the classroom can have a significant impact on your studies. Below are some common campus-related supports.
Office of the Student Ombuds Service
The Office of the Student Ombuds is a confidential service that strives to ensure that university processes related to students operate as fairly as possible. We offer information, advice, and support to students, faculty, and staff as they deal with academic, discipline, interpersonal, and financial issues related to student programs.
Counselling and Clinical Services
Counselling and Clinical Services helps students improve their personal, social and academic well-being by providing psychological and psychiatric services. Specifically, they offer:
- Individual and Couple Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Drop-in Workshops about Mental Health
Wellness Supports - Social Work Team
Wellness Supports has a team of Registered Social Workers who work with students on a one-to-one basis. Contact their team by emailing wellness@ualberta.ca. They assist students in the following areas:

University of Alberta Health Centre
Whether you are feeling unwell or it's time for a regular check-up, the physicians and nurses at the University Health Centre are available to help and answer any questions you have relating to your healthcare journey. If you have any questions please contact UHC by phone at 780-492-2612 or email at hws@ualberta.ca. The Health Clinic is located at 2-200 Students’ Union Building (SUB).
EmpowerMe
Students covered by the SU Comprehensive Care or Basic Care Health and/or Dental Plan, have access to Empower Me, a mental health and wellness service. Empower Me has several professionals with various domains of expertise, including psychology, psychotherapy, social work, nutrition, etc. You can connect with EmpowerMe by calling 1-833-628-5589 (toll-free), available 24/7.
Peer Support Centre
The Peer Support Centre (PSC) is a Students' Union service that offers a free, confidential, and non-judgmental place to talk to someone for support.
