The first annual Festival of Health is a chance to experience some of the cutting-edge health research happening at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry first-hand. The public will meet the faces behind the latest medical research in the news and learn about important health topics from leading experts.
Topics range from the opioid crisis to gut health, childhood obesity and what you can do to avoid a trip to the emergency room, plus much more. In addition to rapid-fire health talks, there will be hands-on interactive displays to see the work being done in U of A labs up close and a question-and-answer session where those in attendance can get answers to their most burning health questions.
This event is free to the public and everyone, families included, are invited to enjoy an engaging afternoon themed around today's most critical health topics.
The Festival of Health is about more than education, it is an opportunity to connect our scientists and researchers with the people they serve―our community.
"It is important that the public has a chance to see what the amazing people in our Faculty do every day, and that we reach out and share our expertise widely," said Richard Fedorak, dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. "Everyday at the U of A, we work to improve the health of our communities so we can all live healthier lives."
As we count down to the Festival of Health on June 3, stay tuned for a series of sneak peeks of the topics and health experts that will be featured.
