Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 12 - 12:50 pm via Zoom

with Dr. Suzanne Depledge and DDS students

A group of Dentistry students led by Dr. Suzanne Depledge travelled to the Dominican Republic from September 21 - 28, 2024 to provide free dental services. They teamed up with Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry and Universidad Central del Este - UCE to provide rural mobile dental care to 256 patients in 3 days in the Dominican Republic. The group is indebted to Bright Island Outreach and Octavio Gil from 123Dentist for organizing this collaborative and multidisciplinary experience with medicine. The students had an unforgettable time and made friendships that will last a lifetime. The UofA's Mike Petryk School of Dentistry looks forward to enhancing and expanding the University of Alberta School of Dentistry's Access for All dentistry program in rural Metis communities based on their experiences in the Dominican Republic.
