Dr. Carlos Solarte, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor and Residency Program Director in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences. He received his medical degree from Cauca State University and Ophthalmology from Barraquer Institute in Bogota (Colombia) and became a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Specialist in 2006 at the University of Toronto. He joined the University of Alberta in 2012 and is currently an Assistant Professor. He is now completing a Master in Health Professions Education - Maastricht (Netherlands) with emphasis in Educational Leadership in addition to his Master in Public Health (Epidemiology).
