John Christy Johnson is a 3rd year MD/MSc Biomedical Engineering Candidate at the University of Alberta. He works as a graduate researcher at the Rehabilitation Robotics Lab examining wheelchair biomechanics in virtual reality. He writes for the Antarctic Institute of Canada and is co-president of the Canadian Coalition of Global Health Research: Alberta Chapter.
Peter Anto Johnson, MSc is a researcher at the Antarctic Institute of Canada and a medical student at the University of Alberta. He holds an MSc in Pediatrics and BSc (Hons) in Physiology from the University of Alberta and is the president of the Canadian Coalition of Global Health Research - Students and Young Professionals Network (CCGHR-SYPN) University of Alberta Chapter. He has previously been recognized for his research achievements having been named one of the Alberta Council of Global Cooperation's Top 30 Under 30 in 2019.

Gabriela Abbud is a physiotherapist and an Assistant Teaching Professor with the Department of Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. Originally from Brazil, Gabriela has worked in diverse rehabilitation settings and has a particular interest in Global Health and healthcare delivery in low resources settings.
Mona Walls is a physiotherapist in Central Alberta and chair of the Global Health Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Mona is also a member of the Rehabilitation Team of A Better World Canada and has ongoing projects in Kenya and Rwanda.

Charlene Nielsen is a postdoctoral researcher with Dr. Shelby Yamamoto in the Climate Health and Environmental Epidemiology Research group in the School of Public Health, University of Alberta. She completed her interdisciplinary PhD in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences & Medical Sciences-Pediatrics ('18) at the University of Alberta. As a geographer, Charlene is dedicated to defending the “health of the land” by developing spatial data science solutions for planetary health.
McKenzie Tilstra is a research assistant and recent graduate of the School of Public Health, University of Alberta. She completed her MSc in Epidemiology ('21) with Dr. Shelby Yamamoto in the Climate Health and Environmental Epidemiology Research group. In our changing climate, McKenzie is committed to developing strategies that promote community health and resilience through research, science communication, and advocacy.

Rachel Livergant, BScH, MBT, MD 2023. Rachel is a third-year medical student at the University of Alberta. Prior to medical school, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, World Languages, and International Studies at Queen’s University, and a Masters in Biomedical Technology at the University of Calgary. Rachel has been active in the Global Health and Global Surgery programs at the University of Alberta, championing the creation of a Global and Population Health Certificate for medical students, completing research at the Global Surgery Offices in Edmonton and Vancouver, and is the co-president of the Edmonton Canadian Global Surgery Trainee Alliance. Rachel is passionate about quality and innovative healthcare for all and aspires to a career that blends global health initiatives with cutting-edge medical advancements to enhance healthcare systems, practices, and delivery.

Georgia Fraulin is a first year medical student at the University of Alberta and a recent graduate of Queen's University, where she received a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Life Sciences and Global Development Studies. She is interested in global health equity-focused research that incorporates and highlights the voices of those most affected by various global issues. She has worked with research groups such as ARCH (A Research Collaborative for Global Health Equity) at Queen's, supervised by Dr. Susan Bartels.
Digital Literacy Empower Adolescent Girls in LMIC: A Systematic Review

Dr. Salima Meherali is an Assistant Professor at University of Alberta, Faculty of Nursing. She is an early career researcher and her research program comprises of three areas of inquiry –immigrant adolescent/youth in Canada, mental health and sexual and reproductive health and rights of immigrant youth in Canada and in low and middle-income countries, and theorizing gender intersections within vulnerable populations. As a principal investigator, she has been involved in community based participatory action research projects to actively engage with adolescents/youth to evaluate their mental health and sexual and reproductive health needs in Canada and in global health context.

Her research focuses on generating new knowledge of vitamin A transfer between mother and offspring and will discuss the importance of maternal vitamin A stores and maternal dietary vitamin A intake in establishing vitamin A reserves in offspring.

Fariha Asif is a Teacher Trainer, Certified Mentor, researcher and an international presenter who values dedication, service and excellence. She is a Program Assistant for Adult Literacy & Skills Development at Action for Healthy Communities, Edmonton, AB, Canada. She received the 2018 Emerging Scholar Award at the 25th International Conference on Learning, Athens, Greece in June 2018. She presented her research paper at Oxford, March 21-23, 2018. She also presented at the Applied Linguistics & Language Teaching Conference at Zayed University, Dubai, U.A.E. March 8-10, 2018. She was awarded the prestigious award of a one-year Leadership Mentoring Program by TESOL Arabia in 2017 and was selected as a Conference Ambassador for TACON 2017. She attended the China-Europe Dialogue at Media Communication Studies Summer School, Switzerland in July 2016 and presented her research paper there. She received the 2015 Graduate Scholar Award for presenting her research paper at the 13th International Conference of New Directions in Humanities at UBC. In March 2014, she presented her research paper at Harvard and Nevada University. In July 2013, she attended the 19th International Congress of Linguists, Geneva, Switzerland where she met the "Father of Modern Linguistics" Dr. Noam Chomsky.
