UAlberta International has a friendly team of professionals that focus on various areas of work that support internationalization at UAlberta. Let's spend a few minutes getting to know John Soltice, Assistant Director, Data Management & Analysis!
What special certifications do you possess that help you do your work?
From the UofA I have a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Arts, and an MA in International Relations, and more recently completed the AACRAO Strategic enrolment Management Endorsement Program (SEM-EP).
What is your favourite space on UAlberta campuses and why?
Any place on campus that I am having coffee with a colleague - that's the place to be
What previous position have you held that contributes most to your position at UAI?
I have had many previous positions that have all contributed in some way to my current role at UAI. Starting at the SUB Info Booth in 1991 helped me realize how many great things happen in any given week on campus, then in the UofA English Language Program from 1993-1998, then with several UAI units starting with the Education Abroad Program, Sponsored Student Program, International Recruitment, and now in the Office of the Associate Vice-President (International).
What motivates you?
I used to compete for Canada on the national Modern Pentathlon team. This exposed me to the many great things in the world and the joy of friendly competition balanced with the role of ambassador representing Canada on the world stage. To this day I aspire to help UAI and the UofA do the same - be the best we can be while bringing UofA to the world and the world to UofA.
