Looking for research opportunities and resources? The FURCA Involvement Fair is your chance to connect with researchers, funding agencies, and other organizations that work with undergraduate (and prospective graduate) researchers.
Visit our exhibitors on Thursday, March 13 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the main floor of the Students' Union Building (SUB) to learn more about research opportunities, funding opportunities and other ways that you can get involved in undergraduate research!

- Alberta Health Services - Glenrose Research and Innovation Team
- The Glenrose Research and Innovation Department strives to solve clinical challenges to improve patient experiences and outcomes. Undergraduate students work with therapists to design, develop and test prototypes. We hire students on an ongoing basis so are always interested in connecting with passionate students.
- Spectrum
- Spectrum is a multi-disciplinary undergraduate research journal that provides opportunities for students to publish their work, or gain experience as student editors or peer reviewers.
- Eureka Undergraduate Science Journal
- Eureka is a science journal that publishes primary research, review papers, and editorials from undergraduate students across Canada. We also host an annual research symposium where students can present their work, similar to FURCA, as well as other opportunities including cover photo contests and student researcher spotlights.
- Economic student inquiry journal (ESI)
- ESI promotes research in economics. It allows undergraduate and graduate students to publish the research paper they have written in their academic courses and received an A- or more on it. It follows a double reviewer policy, adding to its authenticity and accuracy.
- Crossings: An Undergraduate Arts Journal
- Crossings: An Undergraduate Arts Journal is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, academic student journal published by the Organization for Arts Students and Interdisciplinary Studies (OASIS) to highlight the diverse and outstanding breadth of research from all programs in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta

- Offering students an opportunity to know we offer graduate programs and directing them to departments that offer the degree they are interested in pursing.
- University of Alberta International
- University of Alberta International encourages and facilitates connections for all members of the U of A community to engage on the global scale, in support of the creation of an internationally vibrant learning and research environment. Our organization offers a variety of research opportunities abroad in which undergraduate students can participate.
- Sociology Undergrad Student's Association
- We are INVOKE, the Sociology Undergraduate Student's Association's student-run journal. We will be spreading information on the journal overall as well as our past and upcoming volumes.
- Black Youth for Social Innovation(BYSI)
- Black Youth for Social Innovation (BYSI) empowers Black students within the Social Sciences and Humanities, including Arts, Business, Education, and Law, through research-driven initiatives that foster social innovation and community development. At the Involvement Fair, we will showcase opportunities for students to engage in mentorship, collaborative research projects, and advocacy efforts focused on equity, inclusion, and societal impact.

- UAlberta iGEM
- We represent the University of Alberta in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition where students from across the world use synthetic biology to develop innovative solutions to tackle some of the world's biggest challenges. Come on by to learn more about the competition and how you can get involved!
- Community Service-Learning (UofA, Faculty of Arts)
- Community Service-Learning (CSL) offers University of Alberta students the opportunity to work and make a difference with a local community group, while reflecting and putting their experiences in context within a university course. All CSL courses include a CSL placement. While some CSL placements involve hands-on front line work, others may include research-related work for an organization.
CSL also offers the Non-Profit Board Internship Program (NPBI) where students do work related to governance and leadership. There is a final project that can be researched based. CSL also offers the CSL Certificate in which students can pursue a non-credit opportunity. - Sustainability Council
- The Sustainability Council is an academic leadership unit at the University of Alberta that provides several supports and research opportunities that allow students to advance sustainability in meaningful ways outside the classroom. It provides opportunities for students to work on mentored sustainability projects in the Certificate in Sustainability and Sustainability Scholars Program, which are for open to undergraduate students and graduate students, respectively. It also supports campus-based sustainability research by contributing funds to the URI Undergraduate Campus as a Living Lab Research Stipend, in collaboration with Energy & Climate Action.
- Certificate in Archaeology
- The Dept. of Anthropology and the Dept of History, Classics & Religion provides students with the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Archaeology. The Certificate allows students to participate in an experiential learning opportunity through archaeological fieldwork.
- Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI)
- The Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI) supports students' academic and career growth through hands-on research and creative activities. We welcome undergraduate students from all disciplines, at any year of study, and at any stage of the research process—from initial exploration to publication. Engaging in research provides valuable practical experience, strengthens professional skills and networks, and expands career opportunities. URI also offers funding opportunities and personalized advising to help students navigate their research journey.
- Edmonton Social Planning Council
- ESPC is a social policy research organization that focuses in the areas of low-income and poverty. The research we conduct aspires to build a community in which everyone is a full and valued participant.
