Hosted by First Peoples’ House, this is the orientation program for First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) students who are new to the University of Alberta, designed to give you the tools needed to be a successful learner at the university. Join the team at First Peoples’ House as we welcome you to the university and provide an overview of the services available to support your physical, mental (academic), emotional, cultural and financial wellness. 


Programming

During First Peoples' House Orientation, you can expect to:

  • Learn about the programs & services available at First Peoples' House
  • Meet other Indigenous students
  • Tour campus
  • Hear from our Elders and learn about our cultural wellness supports
  • Learn study tips from the Learning Specialist at First Peoples' House
  • Learn about financial wellness resources for Indigenous students
  • Sample a fitness class through Campus and Community Recreation
  • Meet a Student Advisor in your faculty
  • Be inspired by our special orientation panel guests of past and present students
  • Get some free swag (including a backpack) from First Peoples' House
  • Share some good food
  • Experience TAWOW (our welcome back event for all Indigenous students)
