Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)
Any student who has a registered RESP with a bank in Canada may withdraw from their RESP while attending the University of Alberta full time.
Arrangements to transfer funds from your RESP to the university should be completed at least 14 days prior to the University payment deadline to allow for sufficient time for processing.
The Canadian Bank requirements are listed below:
- CIBC
- Form 10256 — Verification of Enrollment. The form is available from any CIBC and must be picked up by the student, and given to the Registrar's Office (Student Connect) for stamp and signature, then returned to CIBC for release of funds.
- ATB
- The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment and a Timetable Notice outlining the tuition costs.
- Servus Credit Union
- The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment to the Credit Union.
- BMO
- The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment.
- Canadian Western
- The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment and a Timetable Notice outlining the tuition costs.
- Royal Bank
- The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment and a Timetable Notice outlining the tuition costs.
- TD Canada Trust
- The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment and a Timetable Notice outlining the tuition costs.
- Scotia Bank
- Will release on a semester by semester basis. The student must provide a University of Alberta Verification of Enrolment and a Timetable Notice outlining the tuition costs.
Verification of Enrollment
Your Verification of Enrollment certificate will be available to request in Bear Tracks (to be fulfilled by MyCreds) 62 days prior to the start of the applicable term, whether you are registered in one, or both linked terms. You may continue to access it for 120 days following the term’s official end date.
- Your certificate for the upcoming Fall/Winter term will be available to request in early August, and will be available to request until the following August.
- Your certificate for the upcoming Spring/Summer term will be available to request in early April, and will be available to request until the following December.
Timetable
Your official Timetable Notice, if required by your RESP provider, can be obtained by visiting the Student Service Centre on the main floor of the Administration Building.
Please note that you may be required to book an appointment with your RESP provider before funds are released. If an appointment is required, you should plan to arrive with all required documentation.
