As of Fall 2024, the University of Alberta will hold up to three exams per day during the final exam period. If you have three exams held in four consecutive time blocks, you may be eligible to reschedule one of those exams.

Why was the schedule changed to have three exams in one day?
The University of Alberta is moving to hold up to three exams per day to ensure 63 teaching days and that final exams are scheduled within the approved two-week examination period.
How do I know if I am eligible to request rescheduling my exams?
The university will hold up to three final exams per day during the final exam period, including 8:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. If you are scheduled to write three (3) or more final exams within four consecutive time slots (i.e. exams start and finish within 27 hours), then you are eligible to request rescheduling one of your exams.
Where do I find the final exam schedule?
When it is available, your personal exam schedule can be found in Bear Tracks under the My Schedule & Exam tile; Final Exam Schedule page. The Fall 2024 exam schedule will be available on November 1.
Can I reschedule any of the exams?
Yes, you can request to reschedule any one of the three or more exams that are scheduled within four consecutive time slots. It is at your discretion to decide which eligible exam you would like to request to reschedule.
Do I have to request to reschedule an exam when I have three or more final examinations within four consecutive time slots?
No, the decision to request a rescheduled exam is your choice. If you do not request to reschedule your final exam, you will be expected to write your exams as indicated on the Final Exam Schedule.
When will my rescheduled exam take place?
Efforts will be made to hold rescheduled exams no later than December 22 in the Fall Term and April 30 in the Winter Term. In some cases, exams may be rescheduled to the next semester. If you are eligible for rescheduled exams, dates and times will be shared with you approximately two weeks before the start of the official exam period.
When can I apply to reschedule the exams?
The application to apply to reschedule an exam will open on November 1, 2024. The deadline to apply is November 13, 2024. You will know when and where your rescheduled exam will be held approximately two weeks before the start of the official exam period.

Are take-home final exams or departures from the official final exam schedule eligible to be rescheduled?
No. The Exam Rescheduling process only applies to final exams scheduled within the term’s official final exam period (as defined in the Academic Schedule).
What if I miss the deadline to apply?
If you miss the deadline to apply for a rescheduled exam, you will write your exams as indicated on the original final exam schedule.
