Certificate in Writing Studies
The Certificate in Writing Studies is an embedded undergraduate certificate that demonstrates a high level of achievement in written communication.
Overview
Through completion of this certificate, students will develop enhanced skills in written communication through multidisciplinary endeavours. This certificate is founded in both mentorship and peer-based learning which helps inspire students to deeper engagement with personal development.
Eligibility
The Certificate in Writing Studies is available to undergraduate students enrolled at the Augustana Campus and North Campus of the University of Alberta. To be eligible for the certificate, students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above.
Requirements
To complete the certificate, students must complete 18 units of course work.
For Augustana students, complete:
- 12 units of writing instruction; 6 units from a course that includes a capstone project
- 6 units of additional coursework designated as “writing intensive”
For North Campus students, complete:
- 12 units of writing instruction; 6 units from a course that includes a capstone project
- 6 units of additional eligible coursework
