Courses
The Master of Education in Educational Studies (MES) is a 10-course, course-based degree. For admission into this cohort, students must have completed a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership (GCSL) at the University of Alberta (four courses; 12 credits). It is preferred that students have their GCSL electives in Futures Education. They will complete the MES by taking six graduate-level courses (18 credits), as outlined below. While the courses are online and synchronous, participants will work face-to-face in their school communities to facilitate action-oriented collaborative inquiry as action research-practitioners and peer coaches.
To create an optimal experience for the cohort, all courses will be co-instructed by faculty committed to collaborative and innovative teaching and learning. Given the fluid and dynamic nature of the case studies of global disruptions, coursework will also feature readings, presentations and discussion panels from international experts from Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and Iceland.
Note: Any synchronous sessions are in Mountain Time (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). Dates and times are determined by the course instructor.
